About Mount Kilimanjaro
Also Known as the roof of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro is both the tallest free-standing mountain and tallest mountain in Africa. Kilimanjaro Mountain stands at 5,875 meters above the sea level, and locates only 330 km from the earth’s equator.
Mount Kilimanjaro has three volcanic summits;
- Shira (3,962 meters) the first-born of the three summits is by now inexistent.
- Mawenzi (5149 meters) is steep and spiky.
- Kibo (5895) the youngest and also dormant, could erupt again.
